studies have shown that survival falls by 10-15% for each minute of cardiac arrest without CPR delivery. The chain of survival, first
conceptualized for out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest, applies to in-hospital arrest as well. Successful resuscitation requires early recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest, early activation of trained responders, early CPR, early defibrillation when indicated, and early advanced life support.
